BenildeMUN is a three-day simulation of the operations in the United Nations in the form of a conference. It aims to enhance and engage students in the field of diplomacy by fostering comprehensive exercise and development of the students’ diplomatic skills and practices.

Comprising of 193 Member States, the assembly holds a unique position as the recommending body of UN that initiates equal representation and deliberative policy-making process in advancing the general interest of the international community.
As stipulated in the Chapter V of the United Nations Charter, the Security Council is principally mandated to promote the establishment and maintenance of international peace and security as one of the six primary organs of the United Nations. As the only United Nations body capable of passing legally binding resolutions, the Security Council is able to execute its functions through methods such as sanctions, arms embargoes, and collective military action in order to maintain international peace and security. The Security Council consists of ten non-permanent member states voted upon by the UN General Assembly for a two-year term; the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, and the French Republic constitute its five permanent members.
The Economic and Social Council is a coordinating body that fundamentally puts forward recommendations, and guides policy formulation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, it links the various UN entities to bring about comprehensive solutions that promulgate higher standards of living in order to foster economic and social growth."
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees is a Nobel Peace Price winning UN agency mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect refugees and Internally Displaced Persons. The main activities include the protection of refugees’ and IDP’s rights, urgent humanitarian action on emergency situations and sustainable assistance by means of voluntary repatriation, local integration and resettlement. With an unprecedented 65.6 million people around the world forced from home, this UN Agency has doubtlessly a vast responsibility to discuss the most pressing topics surrounding the global refugee crisis in the 21st century.
